Where Would You Rather Be?

I still am in love with with this bumper sticker. I was reminded of it when I saw the "I'd rather be in the 18th century" shirt on Factual Imaging (If it had a big coiffure on it, I'd be sold). I'm not quite sure which I'd rather be at more, Pemberely or the 18th century. Can't I have both? Oh wait that would mean no Darcy...Where would you rather be?

  1. Even worse. You could be at Pemberley in the late 18th C and Darcy would be there! But he'd still be a kid and so you couldn't perv at him. :/

  2. Exactly, the whole plan would fail miserably!

  3. Lol!! What a tough call. How about a semi-pervy compromise? Live in the 18c, work the hair powder and polonaises (and masquerades!) and THEN pull a Mrs Robinson with when you're an older lady.
And the bonus would be that you'd qualify for Tart of the Week!

I also like the bumper sticker "I brake for Breeches." (More like "I slam on the brakes for Breeches." Then ogle shamelessly.)

  4. Well, I'm already married to my Mr. Darcy and I'd take him with me to the late 18th century to live at Chatsworth or the like. Maybe I would be some progeny of the Devonshires.... Sigh... Ok, back to reality.

  5. Oh it'd have to be the 18th century for me, hands down. No matter what it will always be my favorite. I'd go back to the middle of the century, so I can be sure to have a chance to wear all of my favorite clothing and hair styles. And there could always be an ancestor to Mr. Darcy hanging around. Perhaps the one he inherited his looks from...

  6. Wait, if it's Chatsworth/Pemberley from the 2006 P&P, wouldn't it technically be both? That was based on Austen's earlier 1790s draft, so it was set in the late 18th century. Best of both worlds! Mmmm, late Georgian Mr. Darcy...

  7. Ooo I like the way your mind works! I could also just go for something that says I'd rather be at Chatsworth. Or maybe even better, I'd rather be the Pantheon Masquerades.
