Public Service Announcement

Just because I've had some questions about it...

I
f you recall a while ago, I set up a poll to see if anyone would be interested in a group read of The Sylph by Georgiana. Just to update you all, yes this is going to happen and I'm very excited about it. So what is taking so long?

Well, I am very happy to say I am currently working together with GirlEbooks to get a free edition of the ebook to everyone who is interested. That is where the time-snag is. We've been basically translating the 18th century text into the proper format which take a massive amount of editing. Becaufe everything is being written with those long s's I am fo fond of as well as other jumbles that came in the converfion.

Hopefully by the time we are able to finish this task everyone will still be interested in the group read. I sure hope so because the book is a great read, and filled with juicy gossip. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

  1. Yay this sounds great! What excerpts I've read of 'The Sylph' sound really intriguing. My only question, will the ebook be available in a format that can be easily read on a home computer for those who do not yet possess a Kindle?

  2. Yes you should be able to read it on your computer without the use of a Kindle.

  5. For anyone who was interested in a hard copy, I picked one up a few years ago in the Chatsworth House shop. It's published by Henry Parker Publishing ISBN 1-904069-00-2. Don't know if it is still available or can be found second hand on Bookfinder.com etc?

@Rachel, Of course it's not too late! I will post updates as to when the group read begins.

  10. Oh good, I'm glad there is such a strong reaction because it is a really good story. I also have some good juicy input in the background since most all the characters are based on real people or stories from Georgiana's early married life!

Tulip just graciously volunteered to help edit too, so we now have a group effort to get this project going!

  12. Her autobiography or bio? Don't tell me I'm not in the know of an auto! The Sylph itself is very autobiographical. No reading it until our book group!! ;)
