The Duchess of Devonshire's Gossip Guide came to being in 2008 as a joint project with Marie Antoinette's Gossip Guide.  We began the blogs with the aim of  using one of the eighteenth century's cultural mediums (gossip) to make historical connections in a delightful manner.  That's all a fancy way of saying that people were sick of us coming to parties and talking about dead people so we created the blogs as an outlet.

Focusing on eighteenth-century Britain, Georgiana's Gossip Guide covers topics of art, theater, literature, society, culture, and most especially, the fascinating figures of the time.

About me

I am an art historian, blogger, and massive nerd.  My life is currently consumed with writing my PhD which focuses on the visual representations of political women in eighteenth-century Britain.  My academic exploits can be found on my Academia profile.

I am originally from New York but currently reside in Edinburgh where I teach history of art at the National Galleries of Scotland and the University of Edinburgh.
