We all dream of a fabulous pouf. In the past I found this fabulous video of how to style yourself an 18th century coiffure. Well, that's a bit time consuming and not all of us have long hair. That's why you need a good wig. Those also get expensive and sometimes look cheap. We can't have that! Maria found this great site that gives step by step instructions on how to make your own pouf wig and it makes you want to hop on ebay and grab a wig right away. I also heard somewhere that it's best to buy those spray-on Halloween hair dyes in white and grey to get the powdered look. Now all there is to figure out it what kind of hairdo would you have? A la enfant? A la l'inoculation? There is too many possibilities.
the Baigneuse looks like it would make even the Edwardians cringe, it's huge!!!
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine it in real life? It is very matronly too...very Marie.
ReplyDelete...and we think it's a pain to do our own hair now!!!
ReplyDeletecan you even imagine???
It really is! Although, they had hairdressers to do it for them. In fact, French court hairdressers were paid more than court artists! Hard to imagine isn't it? Considering hairdos are temporary and we still have the lovely portraits to admire today. It just goes to show that hair was a BIG deal.
ReplyDeleteMy mind boggles. I think if I went for something grand, one gust of wind and it would be all over. The indignity! A la Zephire may be my favorite for every day wear, though I'm not quite sure about wearing that salad plate. Maybe A la Grecque.
ReplyDeleteWow! Love this overview! =D
ReplyDeleteAlso wanted to say thanks for adding my blog to your blogroll! ;D
wow, that's some intense hair! Awesome.
