  1. Beautiful portrait. Very serene.

  2. Stunning. I'm sure the artist was shooting for 'elegant as alabaster' but in today's mindset, I tend to see 'Vampyre Madonna and Child'.

  3. Beautiful portrait. I wonder if Georgiana's son grew up to be a hunk.... he's a gorgeous child!

  4. I like the way your mind works, Lesley! It is certainly a lovely portrait. Is it in a private collection? It's not in any of my 18c portrait books or Romney books. I'm sure Sir Joshua will be writhing, but surprisingly many of my favorite portraits are by Romney.

  5. I believe it is in a private collection, but I can't find too much more information on it unfortunately.

  6. Lol Polonaise. :D I was thinking that if Heather could find a portrait of him as an adult, he could feature in the Hunk posts. It would be interesting if we could see how he turned out. :)

  7. wow, that's a nice painting. They remind me of angels, don't really know why though...
Nice blog! I'm a little crazy for everything related to the eighteenth century, so it's kind of perfect!

  10. That's a lovely painting. Funny how much she looks like Emma Hamilton! I wonder if Romney liked to make his female subjects look a certain way. As an aside, I love her hair! I've always envied women with hair that color!

  11. I envy the color of their complexions! And so clear and flawless.
