Hunk Alert: George Duke of Grafton

SWM Sportsman, Politician, and President of the Eclectic Society of London. Dark and brooding male looking for a woman to spend the rest of my life with.
Likes: Foxhunting, tall hats, a brightly-coloured wardrobe, witty remarks, horse racing and breeding, and the Tories...eh, make that Whigs.

I like living the good life but avoiding gossip and scandal, I had enough of that in my childhood. I've been told I have a dry sense of humour which is probably why I get along with William Pitt so well, even if our opinions don't always match up. In my down time you can find me on my estate enjoying the outdoors.

I am looking for a woman pure in her opinions and personality. I'd like to settle down with a lady with class and who is in this relationship for the long haul. I don't judge a lady based on her parents' mistakes just as I wouldn't want others to judge me in the same way. If you like long walks and good conversation I would love to meet you.

  1. What a hunk!

Oh, how I wish I was born about...

    256 or so years ago.
    That'd be great(:

  2. You said it! I'd be one to answer this ad, that's for sure

  3. Were he and Georgiana great friends?

Oh and how many men did Georgiana have affairs with? Or was it just Mr. Earl Grey Tea?

  4. I don't think they were. They were probably acquainted but not too much more if I recall correctly.

We only know for sure that G had an affair with Mr Tea (haha get it?) but there are other supposed affairs that she didn't get caught in. It is highly likely she had one with the Duke of Dorset (another hunk) and possibly even with her dear friend, Charles James Fox.

  5. Foxy!?!? No way!

The duke of dorset was another hunk. Oh how amazing life must have been for Georgiana.
I also have a website for you, depicting regency fashion! It's simply amazing, you MUST check it out.

Which part of England do you live in, Heather?

  6. I'm bookmarking it now! Thanks! I used to live in Essex but now I'm back to being stateside, and none too happy about it either.

  7. I've heard Essex is quite beautiful.
I'm stuck here in the states, though I lived in Northumberland until I was seven.

That website gives regency fashion plates year by year, and since I draw quite often (I'm a fashion geek) I use it nearly every week. They update it quite alot, and they give much information!

I loved your post about Catherine the Great; I've read somewhere that she had quite a number of affairs too. All the better I suppose.

What, in your opinion, was the richest court in Europe? I used to think it was France until I saw how absolutely enormous Russia was, but then again France is about 10 times warmer and more fertile than Russia. Sorry, I'm also an agricultural geek(:

  8. Wow that is a good question! I might have to poll the readers about it because I don't know enough about other grand courts, such as Sweden's, to make a good assessment. My initial instinct would be France though.

  9. That would be simply lovely!

And I saw on your profile how you love the book Where the Wild Things Are. That's adorable:]

Since you just said the court of Sweden, that reminds me of Gustav III. Though he may have been bisexual or even homosexual, wouldn't you still consider him a hunk? I mean, in this portrait:

he and his brothers look simply amazing. Maria Theresa may have produced healthy and attractive sons, but Louisa Ulrika of Prussia wins the crown :]

I mean, how often do you come by a royal hunk? I mean Prince Charles is just well... Ew, and the Princes aren't too nasty awful, but it wouldn't help if William would apply the Rogain.

  10. Me! Me! Take me! I walk! I talk! And although my parents are both silly and annoying, I am the soul of discretion and class, Mr Duke. So take me!

  11. The Eclectic Society? The good life? Tall hats? Witty remarks? Seems like a decent guy, not a wenching drunkard. AND a hunk to boot? Where do I sign?

  12. Okay Geordie, you sound not so bad, but you'll have to give up the foxhunting and horse racing as I'm into animal rights.... yep, well ahead of my time! But I like the sound of good walks and the outdoors, so I might be just what you're looking for! :D

  13. The Ecletic Society...where can I sign up?

  14. No gossip and scandal?

It seems I can not apply...

  15. Sporty, witty and fashonable, almost disappointed that there was no scandal.

    Thanks for the extra info!

  17. Alas, Mr. Hunk married one of the Waldegrave sisters - Charlotte to be exact (I used wikipedia!) She is the middle one of the very powdered sisters in a previous entry. I guess the portrait di its work.

  18. @Fabulastic

Hahaha yes I'll have to find a more scandalous hunk for you!

Thanks for the link, I keep hearing about this exhibition and it's killing me that I'm missing it. You on the other hand are just a quick RyanAir flight away!

  19. I must say I had to google for Ryanair since I was not familiar with the company.

When I saw their site with the word «cheap» written all over I understood the reason of my ignorance.

British Airways first class only, Darling! How would I survive the flight without my complimentary glass of champagne?

    ReplyDelete
  20. True true, but last time Lauren and I were on British Airways all we had to do to get champagne was flirt with the guys across the aisle from us. So I make do with what I have! ;)

  21. Too bad his ancestor, who actually wasn't a son of Charles II, professed to not having a conscience.

We all know what happened to him. Good riddance.
