Ooo maybe! I interpreted it as a promotion of traveling since that was a means of Enlightenment. But of course that doesn't mean I'm right! There's some funny ones I'm going to put up that I have no clue what they could possibly mean.
Ooops! I thought of distance related to "time", not only to "travel". But probably I´m wrong. (I have to improve my English :S) A very inspiring quote, anyway.
