Yay or Nay? Maria Antoinetta

Did you enjoy your empire fashions? It appears so because this time, Pauline Bonaparte got a Yay from the masses, although many of you wanted to burn her headband. This weekend we are going to look at a different royal beauty in a classic gown.

An unknown portrait of the Spanish princess, Maria Anoinetta shows her in the classically 18th century embroidered gown, with simple plume and jewel accouterments. Yay or Nay?

Yay, very sweet, light and lovely, with lots of creamy through darker colors, I think she pulls it off.

Yay! I love it. The large pattern and blue feather are inspired touches and mark Maria Antoinetta as a true style icon.

Yay - I LOVE IT. Everything about it is classy! Though I must say if I were being picky (which I am, even though this doesn't actually concern her outfit)I'd remove those changeling-esque cherubs fast!

Yay for the gown! However, I agree with others. Those creepy little cherubs could have been left out entirely and the painting would have been so much the better.

Absolutely love the dress. The contrasting oranges and teals are what does it for me. Yay for sure!

Absolutely lovely! Yay indeed!

Yay! Love the sleeves on that dress! And Maria Antoinetta is so lovely she would probably get a yay in anything. I'd have to agree with everyone on the cherubs, though. There's something disturbingly predatory in the way the one floating in the air is looking at her.

Yay! It's so classic and perfect and it becomes her beautifully. I even love the little plume, though I wish her hair had a bit more shape to it.

The dress is pretty enough, but I absolutely covet that headband!

YAY.
The dress is wonderful, aswell as her hair piece.
Yet I wish her hair was a little better styled.

Beautiful gown, or grand habit du cour? A defenite yay, even though the angles/cherubes are quite tacky.
Nice to see a court ensamble from before the rise of the pouf coiffures.

A million and one Yays!!!!
I am the only one I see but I must confess that I personally adore the cherubs, it adds something to the portrait that forces me to like it even more. It is odd that the one in the lower right corner has "basic" cherub wings and the one behind her has more of a faerie/pixie style to the wings, though.

Oh, so yay!! Gorgeous! Just perfect in every regard. (Though that putti near her head looks kinda creepy.)
