Yay or Nay? Franz Isaak von Chasot

There was a small split in the judging last week, but Marie Adélaïde de Bourbon came out on top! All her glitz and glam makes me want to go even glitzier and glamier! Let's check out some menswear that will turn some heads at the Pantheon.

Antoine Pesne paints Franz Isaak von Chasot in his masquerade garb in which he didn't spare any expense on all the frills. Yay or Nay?

  1. I will most definitely say YAY! Even though the outfit might be a bit crazy, it fits for its purpose. I love the colors and detail of texture. The lighting is also very nice.

  2. Not exactly the best look for a pear shaped man, is it? Impressive, yes but flattering, no. I'm going to have to say nay.

  3. I like what he's trying to do but he doesn't quite achieve it. Nay.

  4. Bravo. It is really opulent, but the mix of colors, textiles and embellishments are well thought and work nicely. Especially love the vest and cape materials together.
I agree that it doesn't flatter his build, but it is still a stunning outfit and the painter rendered it wonderfully. Yay, very yay.

  5. Perfect for its intended purpose, well thought out as far as the mix of colors, etc.

It's a costume. Not every day wear. So this gets a resounding YAY from me.

  6. Nay. I think this is one of those situations where my modern sensibilities get the better of me. His outfit just looks far too feminine for me to like it. I think the details and pieces he's chosen might look divine on their own, but taken together it's just too pink and too frilly.

  7. Ack! Nay.Beautifully painted, no question, but too much of everything: brocade, bows, material, fuss. Yes, I know it's a costume but it is rather silly looking. It's the bow around his neck and on the hat that does it.

  8. Like WHOAH! It's beautiful, but way too much fuss for my taste - especially the gold fringe along the bottom of the waistcoat. I'm afraid my sequins and his fringe would not play nice while dancing!

  9. It's a little too much like Mr. Rushworth's pink satin cloak for my taste-I have to vote nay.

  10. I say Yay. Quite appropriate for the occasion.

  11. This one made me laugh, so I was inclined to nay, but then thought, it's a pretty pink and it cheered me up, so a resounding Yay!

  12. Yay. It's hideously over the top, but hey, it's a masquerade outfit, so wasn't that the point? Masquerade outfits are the perfect excuse to shove every frill and colour that you can into an outfit.

  13. I say yay! It takes a brave man to wear lace on his hat :)
