For Sale: Georgiana's World

In the past, readers have asked me about Amanda Foreman's picture-packed version of Georgiana's biography, Georgiana's World. I am a fan of this book for the massive collection of artwork and portraits of Georgiana that are held within its pages and have, therefore, recommended it to a few people. Because of the release of The Duchess and the resurgence of interest in Georgiana, this out-of-print book has been selling for close to $100 over the last year. Well, good news; I just noticed there are now at least three editions for sale on Amazon Marketplace for under $12. So for all those Georgiana-Junkies who have been waiting to get their hands on it, now is your chance!

  2. I so enjoy this book. It has so many pictures that aren't in other books. I like to just pick it up and read a couple pages every now and again. (Plus it has a full page photo of the Duke of Dorset. Hunk alert!)

  3. I know, I'm horrible! I get tempted by stuff so I evilly spread the temptations around. Although I am lucky enough to have this particular temptation.

  4. @Polonaise it's a great coffee table book! Total eye-candy. It's also great to put faces to the names of the important people in the biography.

  5. Thanks for the hot tip! One more excuse to get lost in the 18th century (did you see Mrs. Pandford's c.1800 brilliant yellow shoes on my post yesterday? not bad color for 200 yrs!). Off to Amazon...thanks again.

  8. Wow, $100, seriously?!?! If I had known they were going to go that high I would have bought more copies from B&N when they were in the bargain section for $5.99...and put them on eBay :D Ruthless, I know, but a girl's got to fund her extravagant lifestyle somehow ;)

  10. Great for the booksellers, bad for the authors. Yet, for me, I could not afford my book addiction if I paid full price for every book I crave. Thanks for the tip. Vic

  11. Yeah it is something that the authors do miss out on. I am surprised they didn't reissue this one with the resurgence of Georgiana popularity!

  12. Methinks the scandalously lowered prices may signal a reissue of this book in the nearby future--or the sellers realized that this economy will make buyers more likely to do without overpriced items.
