Yay or Nay? Maria Pilar

Last week we had our first edition of hat Yay or Nays.  The panel was torn!  But in the end Marie Dauncey and her poodle hair were rewarded with a Yay.  Although the curly powdered hair was very much in style, Marie's was very curiously styled for her portrait. I suppose it was all about the hat when she considered her outfit!  Now let's journey to Spain for our next hat selection

Vicente López paints the Duquessa de Nájera (1795) as she adds a hint of bold color to the otherwise subtle clothing pallet via her hat.  Yay or Nay?

Yay!

Love the hats. People look generally about 100 percent better in hats, especially women. In my humble opinion.

I like the hat for itself, but I don't like it paired with that particular gown. But if we're just judging the hat, I give it a yay!

I love her beautiful dress in pale pink; But that green and red lace around the hat?? I'll be honest, maybe those hat's tastes are not my style, but I'll give it a YAY :)

I love the outfit!!!! The color is beyond georgous. The only negatives are the pissy look on her face and how the feathers on her hat match her hair. But they are minor. YAY!!!!

these people had the worst wigs ever. I'm just imagining how horrible their tan skin must look with all that flour and powder and then that atrocious gray wig.

yay for the hat though.

Yay for the vibrant colors of the hat, Yay for the softly muted tones of the dress, UGH for the combination! They don't compliment each other at all like that.

There is just something not right about the hat....the way it's perched on her head....the way it's boldness clashes with the frilly-ness of her dress.....and the crabby look on her face doesn't help either. Sorry, that's a nay from me.

I love it! The pink is charming and soft, and really fits her features. The hat is adorable!
I would so buy this. Warn me if there's an eBay auction on this dress, okay? ;)
