Yay or Nay? Princess Victoire of France

I'm quite shocked by the generous mood of the panel lately.  Lady Molyneux is one of the many approved candidates we've had lately.  She earned a Yay for her classic gown of somber colors.  But I've had enough of these somber winter colors; shall we sample some of the Spring collection?

Adelaide Labille-Guiard paints Madame Victoire (1788) in a periwinkle and white sack-back gown. Yay or Nay?

  1. Oh wow! That's such a beautiful dress and a wonderful colour. I love the trimming and the lace...even the bow at the front of the dress.
Though I do not approve of the cap...or is it a hat...well i still don't like it.
Though all in all I give her a Yay :)

  2. I must agree with Rebecca. The color of that dress is really striking, and the buffon and bow positively make the whole ensemble. Love it! Yay!

  3. I really like this dress as well. The lilac color is beautiful and the simple off-white trimmings make it soft and elegant. A definite YAY!

  4. Alright, ignoring the face of the wearer, this is a beautiful color with soft, feminine trimmings that aren't overwhelming the sitter. I love it! Yay!

  6. Shall vote Yay, with reservations. The headdress is unfortunate. Nonetheless, the dress and painting is lovely. I like that she looks as though she could walk. Perhaps the painter took liberties with the headgear on purpose to emphasize the jowls?

  8. My goodness, I love that color, and I love the dress styles of the late 1780s! :D She's so pretty!

  9. Oh, no, no, no, no NAY! How hideous! It could be a beautiful gown on someone else, but the periwinkle is just dreadful with her complexion! And the gown is far too fussy for her age and roundness! Completely inappropriate for a woman of 55 (especially in 18th century terms) And what on earth is she wearing on her head!?! Total mutton dressed as lamb.

Besides, she was a rather nasty woman.

  10. All I can think of when I look at her is the glass figurine I bought at K-mart for my grandmother when I was five. I thought it was beautiful then and she very kindly kept it on display for quite a while. So, for sentimental reasons (and the fact that I still think it's beautiful!) I give her a big Yay

  13. The color is beautiful and the sheer overlays too! I believe there are no nay's in 18th cent. fashion.

  14. This is all YAY.

(Although she is looking rather British for a French lady...)

  15. I can only imagine how positively feminine and alive I'd feel in the dress. Absolutely love the color and can close my eyes and hear the fabulous ruffling sound it made. A resounding YAY!

  18. I'm afraid I have to say nay on this one. I play the role of Madame Victoire on sl in the Versailles sim. Totally predjudiced.

but seriously, there's nothing wrong with this outfit in my eyes. nice color, and I like the white accents.
