Yay or Nay? Princess Louise Auguste

Royal blue tends not to be a spring color, but it's all about how you accessorize.  Just ask the Duchess of Osuna who gained a Yay for her look.  Personally I think a walking stick could make just about any outfit!  This week my longing for spring has an influence on the gown, but will this gown be pleasantly received?

Jens Juel paints Princess Louise Auguste (1787) in her gualle gown with pink accents, veil, and black slippers.  Yay or Nay?

  1. This gets a big YAY from me!

I love how "light" the dress looks and the spring-ish colors.

  2. Not sure about the veil thing, but the dress itself is very nice. Love the shoes!

  3. Yay! It's so pretty and feminine. And I love the dainty little shoes peeping through too.

  4. Nay. Gaulle just don't flatter the bustless, waistless figure, and all the details and accessories start to look fussy, which takes away from the simple, unstructured look which is the charm of the gaulle.

    They are great shoes though!

  5. Pretty dress but the veil has to go---lends a creepy sort of Miss Havisham touch. A big Yay nonethe less

  6. Yay! for me...I love the soft colors and lightness of the dress.

No so sure about the veil, or how her arm looks a bit...awkward in the angle.

    But again, YAY!!!

  8. Yay. Especially love the sleeves! Not too keen on the veil, though, but willing to overlook it since I love the dress.

  9. Barring the dark shoes (which are great, but not with this dress) the outfit has a nice, ethereal look to it and is really pretty.

    A big YAY from me!

  10. Yay!
Did you know that when they painted this, she was the first to introduce the gown to the danish people? One of her brother, the crownprince, advicers said that it was not a proper way to portray a princess! You could paint an actress or mistress that way, but you could not paint a princess in bare chemise! So Jens Juel had to paint to portraits, one with the scandalous chemise gown and one in formal attire :) It reminds me of the time where Marie Antoinette was painted in a chemise gown for the first time xD

  14. Not so sure about the veil & the shoes should be a more delicate shade. But the rest of it is very charming, I can feel the soft Spring breezes just looking at it!
