We are all Zombies in Love

I cannot hold back my excitement anymore; I am eagerly anticipating the release of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. For weeks I've been leaving dumb comments at Jane Austen Today and Austenprose about said excitement. I'll pause and let you update yourselves if this is news to you.

Apparently, I am not the only one who feels this way (despite never feeling an affinity for the undead). Ever since the news of the publication's release reached the internet, Quirk Publishing has been overwhelmed with the response. After all, this book speaks to two large fan bases: Janeites and Zombiephiles. I roll with both groups so I sense some very good book group discussions in the future. Either way, the sensational response is becoming newsworthy in itself. The publication date has just been moved up to 1 April. Here is the book's editor talking about the surprising response to Seth Grahame-Smith's upcomming zombie love fest. Could this romance even outsell The Zombie Survival Guide and be the new king of Zombie lit?

  1. umm, zombies stress me out.
I could deal when I was younger...say Zombies Ate My Neighbors...but they are scary and like can't be stopped unless you blow them into a ton of pieces and avoid touching them!

  2. Vampires were always my cup of tea as far elements of horror or whathaveyou; zombies I always associate with humor. I blame the Simpsons and Shaun of the Dead.

  6. I wouldn't say I'm a Zombie fan, but I get creeped out easily.

I do, however, have a wonderful vision of Thriller zombies dancing a cotllion or something.

  7. Oh my goodness, that could just beat out the dance to Thriller.

  11. Awh, Heather, if you like vampires but hate Kirsten Dunst, how do you feel about Interview with the Vampire?

  12. It's funny you mention that because I chose to omit my usual comment about her acting: *whiny, bitchy voice* "I haven't seen her do a good job since she was in Interview w/ a Vampire and she was 9!" So there you go, her acting has gotten progressively worse in my opinion. I love my cheesy vampire films though, and that would have to be a favourite! :)

  14. Yeah, I agree with Lauren. Also, I hadn't seen Interview with a Vampire since I was like 12 and desensitized by cartoons and the bad jokes of school chums. But I just watched a few clips on Youtube and YUCK! Kirsten Dunst's acting is ok but that's too much gore for me. She was good in Little Women too. I agree with you that she's getting worse as she gets older.

  15. Good lord, I can't imagine where this one is going...or where I've been for that - why am I just hearing about this now? How ever will those delicate souls of the 18th century ...oh, never mind....I just can't quite imagine.....is it April 1st yet?

  16. Hahaha! That was pretty-much my initial train of thought too!
