Ooohhh, is this going to be a new series? I sure hope so. I adore the country home and have dragged long-suffering friends all over the isle in my pursuit of fine old piles. (But they close so early, there's never enough time to see all the grounds! Maybe if I lay off the tea room....)
I've been to a few houses in Derbyshire, but don't recall Melbourne. I hope it's closed to the public, or I'll be gnashing my teeth.
Sorry for posting this here as it's not on topic, but I wonder if you've seen this post on 18th-century hairstyle "cartoons" over at Bibliodyssey? Careful---some are a bit naughty---and Georgiana gets a mention!
@Cate- Yes I was alerted to that most excellent of posts. I either put the link on twitter...or thought about putting it on twitter to the point where I convinced myself that I did. (Scatterbrain) Thanks for the heads up!
@Faboosh- No english Faux pas in my eyes, both phrasings work! That illustrator is fabulous. I wonder if he is interested in doing some pro-bono work for a nice little gossip blog. Hmmm...
Can't see the painting =(
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know! You should be able to see it now
