Attention Researchers and Students

I sent out a tweet Wednesday that proved to be quite useful to many so I cannot help but spread the news further ever since I myself found out via the ever-helpful blog, Enfilde.

Electronic Enlightenment is offering a free trial for the whole month of June.  For those unfamiliar to the project, Electronic Enlightenment is an online database of letters and correspondence of the eighteenth century.  Just log in to the site with Username: ee2011 and Password: enlightenment to gain access.  Don't forget the proper citations!

Enjoy!

BookMooch Needs to be Taught Some Etiquette

Some of you may have noticed I have had some trouble with the book swap site, Boochmooch in the last few weeks.  A representative from the site has finally got in contact with me and the result literally had me shaking in anger.

I recommend everyone staying as far away from the site as possible.  Bad business is bad business and news of bad business on the web can quickly go viral.  Details of my experience can be found here.

Three Graces Brings Authentic Georgian Jewelry to Your Fingers

I've been meaning to buy myself a ring lately, a single lady ring if you will. So naturally my search began in the totally unrealistic category for my price range and I wandered over to one of my old internet haunts The Three Graces.

This online jewelry site specializes in antique jewelry but saying it specializes in historical jewelry wouldn't be inaccurate. You can actually select which time period you would like your bauble to be from, starting with the Georgian age! And what a gorgeous collection they have, you will flit away the day scrolling through the wide variety of adornments they have up for sale.

As for that special ring, I now know which one to get:

New Internet Toys!

I got an email the other day from Tom who wanted me to check out the website he's been working very hard on, Creative Spaces. The site is a compilation of the collections from some of the UK's most sumptuous museums. So if you're looking for a fab picture of a stomacher, instead of going to the V&A and doing a collections search and then going to the National Gallery and doing the same thing; you can merely go to creative spaces, type in "stomacher" and the site searches nine museums for you. Not too shabby! Just like many of the larger museum sites, you can store your finds in a "notebook" or save them to Favourites. Not bad at all! You can also join similar interests groups; Joanna from the 18th Century Blog already began an 18th Century Fashion group. You can even give status updates from your profile. The end result is like a facebook for art historians.

In order to get a feel for this new site I decided to make my own notebook, collecting various artworks that the museums had in store. It was quick and easy, and there's even links to quickly share it on other social networking sites like Twitter or Bebo. I would recommend checking the site out. Even if you're not into the social networking thing I would bookmark this site for the next time you need a hot picture of the Prince of Wales.
